Q&A interview with Hunter Fuse! Mixtape Majors Exclusive!

Interview conducted by James Boggs for Mixtape Majors.

How did you get your stage name? & have you always gone by that name?

Strangely, I got my stage name during my great-grandad’s funeral.  I was talking to one of my cousin’s before the service and he asked me how I was doing with my music.  He also commented that if I were ever to change my stage name, it should be Hunter Fuse.  Several days later, when I went through my life change, that’s the name I started to use for all my rap.  So to answer the next question, no, I did always go by Hunter Fuse.  That change happened just last year.  Before then, I was going by DJ Del Money, which I got through a rap name generator I googled (lol).

How long have you been in the rap game?

I’ve been in the game for about four years now.  Everyone says it’s a hobby, but not to me.  This is something I take very seriously.

What artist would you like to work with the most?

It’s definitely a tie between T-Pain and Tech N9ne.  Both inspired me greatly during the beginning stages of my career.

Are you currently signed to a label?

I am currently independent and I like it.  I’ve been through two labels already, the first being my own, Worldshocker Entertainment.  It unfortunately fell through due to most of the artists spreading out and doing other things.  The second was S.T.O. Records, which I have mad love and respect for.  But due to recent events, I ended up leaving the label.

How many Mixtape's have you released?

My mixtapes alone (not including ones where I’ve collaborated with other artists) I’ve released five.  My sixth one shall be released sometime later this month.

In your opinion, what's the best song you've ever released?

That’s a tough one.  There are many songs that I’ve looked back on and said, “That was awesome.”  If I had to pic k one though, I would have to go with Stay With Me featuring LeeLee Stylz and Jelly Roll.  That song is what got me recognized by a lot of artists in the Tennessee area.

Do you have any projects set to release soon?

As I mentioned earlier, my sixth mixtape “Arkansas Born, Tennessee Made” is set to be released later this month.

Finally, what advice do you have for up & coming artists trying to get their foot in the door?

There are two things I would tell people to keep in mind.

#1:  If you set your mind to it, you can achieve anything.  So if you believe this rap game is want you want to do, go for it and keep your eye on the prize.

#2:  Make sure you keep yourself humble and your eyes on God.  I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for His divine intervention a year ago.  God is good as the saying goes.
