No Support

Portland show's no support once so ever to underground artist or artist that's trying to create a name for itself. Everything is so backwards it's ridiculous. A state full of hatred and people that is bias and play favoritism for certain artist they think is out that is never gonna break out nowhere. Everybody talk about the same bullshit in music where its pimping, hoes, and more shit. They support they homies and friends, but can't show support for everyone else that always comes in your face asking to do a track with you. I know a whole line of suspect ass rappers that's only gonna be local and not going nowhere with their music. People out here don't know how to make music PERIOD!!!! Promoters and more don't know what the fuck they doing and everything they do is unorganized. Everyone screaming "Supportland" when there isn't no support. You people in Portland support these garbage ass rappers, but not real artist. Just rappers that are puppets doing free shows for their people, but what A&R, Producer, or more are you going to find at these events:NONE!!!! Only certain artist get my respect, but everyone I could give a flying fuck about what you do because you ain't doing nothing to support what I'm doing. Portland will never be BIG so keep dreaming that you gonna be the one to put it on because you not. Music is trash and it's not worth it for labels to listen too. Like Kendrick Lamar said "I hate ya'll/I'll do anything to replace ya'll. Fuck making friends I'm trying 2 kill everybody. New York gets mad love and shows respect and support and for that I appreciate the love they showed me out there. Bullshit gigs, no money, and just puppets doing nothing. If you want to make it GET THE FUCK OUT OF PORTLAND!!!!!

Q&A interview with Hunter Fuse! Mixtape Majors Exclusive!

Interview conducted by James Boggs for Mixtape Majors.

How did you get your stage name? & have you always gone by that name?

Strangely, I got my stage name during my great-grandad’s funeral.  I was talking to one of my cousin’s before the service and he asked me how I was doing with my music.  He also commented that if I were ever to change my stage name, it should be Hunter Fuse.  Several days later, when I went through my life change, that’s the name I started to use for all my rap.  So to answer the next question, no, I did always go by Hunter Fuse.  That change happened just last year.  Before then, I was going by DJ Del Money, which I got through a rap name generator I googled (lol).

How long have you been in the rap game?

I’ve been in the game for about four years now.  Everyone says it’s a hobby, but not to me.  This is something I take very seriously.

What artist would you like to work with the most?

It’s definitely a tie between T-Pain and Tech N9ne.  Both inspired me greatly during the beginning stages of my career.

Are you currently signed to a label?

I am currently independent and I like it.  I’ve been through two labels already, the first being my own, Worldshocker Entertainment.  It unfortunately fell through due to most of the artists spreading out and doing other things.  The second was S.T.O. Records, which I have mad love and respect for.  But due to recent events, I ended up leaving the label.

How many Mixtape's have you released?

My mixtapes alone (not including ones where I’ve collaborated with other artists) I’ve released five.  My sixth one shall be released sometime later this month.

In your opinion, what's the best song you've ever released?

That’s a tough one.  There are many songs that I’ve looked back on and said, “That was awesome.”  If I had to pic k one though, I would have to go with Stay With Me featuring LeeLee Stylz and Jelly Roll.  That song is what got me recognized by a lot of artists in the Tennessee area.

Do you have any projects set to release soon?

As I mentioned earlier, my sixth mixtape “Arkansas Born, Tennessee Made” is set to be released later this month.

Finally, what advice do you have for up & coming artists trying to get their foot in the door?

There are two things I would tell people to keep in mind.

#1:  If you set your mind to it, you can achieve anything.  So if you believe this rap game is want you want to do, go for it and keep your eye on the prize.

#2:  Make sure you keep yourself humble and your eyes on God.  I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for His divine intervention a year ago.  God is good as the saying goes.
